In addition to private practice, Dr. Cosentino is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU Medical Center. She supervises child & adolescent psychiatry residents at the NYU Child Study Center in cognitive behavioral therapy for children and adolescents with anxiety, depression, mood/emotional regulation challenges, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Dr. Cosentino is also the Director of Psychological Services at the Stephen Gaynor School in Manhattan, a specialized independent school for bright children with language based learning differences (preschool through middle school).

Dr. Cosentino received her BA in Psychology with Honors from SUNY Purchase and her MA and PhD in Child/School Psychology from New York University. At NYU, Dr. Cosentino was awarded a teaching fellowship for two consecutive years for a practicum course in School Consultation, in which she supervised doctoral candidates in private and public school placements throughout the city. She completed her dissertation in the area of childhood trauma and received the NYU Women’s Studies Commission Dissertation Award for outstanding research.

Dr. Cosentino completed her pre-doctoral internship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and received two Viola Bernard Research Awards for her work in the area of trauma and childhood abuse. After her internship, she was invited to join the faculty in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and become a Supervising Psychologist and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medical Psychology at Columbia University’s School of Medicine. Dr. Cosentino supervised psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows in neuropsychological testing and psychotherapy and provided clinical services in the Family Center at Babies & Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Cosentino also held a Supervising Psychologist position and faculty appointment at Roosevelt Hospital’s Department of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics where she supervised and taught psychology externs and pediatric residents, provided neuropsychological evaluations and psychotherapy, and consulted to a preschool for children with developmental disabilities and multi-sensory impairment. She has been on the advisory committee for the Gateway School (a private school for children with learning differences) and worked for the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Service’s Child Development Center (a therapeutic preschool).

Dr. Cosentino is a member of the American Psychological Association, The National Association for School Psychologists, The New York State Psychological Association, The International Dyslexia Society (Everyone Reads), and the Association for Behavior and Cognitive Therapies.
